Chirrut could kiss the shopkeeper if it wouldn't require abandoning his meal and Baze. He has never said it, but he's been becoming desperately worried about his friend.

Instead of kissing the shopkeeper for her skill which has finally inspired Baze to eat properly, he begins slipping Baze more food under the guise of having him taste one thing or other, or 'trading' pieces that are 'too spicy' while neglecting to actually take a piece back in that trade.
